Feng shui is an ancient Chinese art and science regarding the relationship between Heaven, Man and Earth.
"Feng" means wind and "Shui" means water. The aim of Feng Shui study is to achieve complete harmony and a deep sensitivity with the natural order.
Feng Shui itself is the study of the movement of Chi ( 氣 )as well as the 'Chinese Art of Placement'. Chi is like a vein of positive and negative energy, constantly moving and trading positions with itself, best illustrated by the Yin and Yang. This energy courses through the earth, holding the earth together like a web. This grid of energy is where all Life derives its power.
In Feng Shui, the environment is full of Chi - powerful but invisible energy. Some of these energies are auspicious, bringing good fortune, happiness, good health, great marriage, successful career and prosperity. However, some energies are negative and hostile thereby bringing unhappiness, tragedy, loss and death.
Feng Shui is a form of Chinese ancient art that finds ways of arranging homes and offices so that the energy becomes harmonious to us. It shows us the ways to harness auspicious energy and avoid, deflect and dissolve negative or evil energy.
This involves studying the Chi of the Exterior - general setting and environment - the flow energy of the neighborhood and plot of land in order to understand where to best place the structure and how to best enhance the property and the relation to its surroundings. This includes landscaping, such as the placement of a water features, plants etc..
As for the flow of chi throughout the Interior, there are different ways of placing furniture, stove, bed, bathrooms, desks etc. as well as the addition of water fountains, wind chimes etc.
